PHOTOBOOTHS IN MOVIES & TV

The Glass Wall

Maxwell Shane (U.S., 1953, 82 min.)

Displaced person Peter Kaban (Vittorio Gassman) jump ship while awaiting his fate, and searches Times Square for the one person who can provide evidence that he deserves asylum in the U.S. At one point, he hides out in an arcade, dozing off in a Photomatic booth. Other arcade-goers decide to play a joke on him and wake him up with the booth's flash. Other photobooths and signs are visible in the background of the scene, which seems to have been shot in the arcade itself rather than on a set.
