The Mentalist: "Pilot"

In the pilot episode of this new CBS series, Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) skips the press conference being held by the grieving parents of a murder victim and has a look around in the kitchen of the house. He spots a (quite poorly made) photostrip on the refrigerator, showing the girl sitting on her dad's lap.
When the parents find him in the kitchen a minute later, a confrontation ensues, it becomes clear that the father has killed his daughter, and the mother shoots her husband right then and there.
This show is the second new series of 2008 to use a photostrip in its pilot episode, after the earlier mid-season replacement (now cancelled) New Amsterdam.
