Mr Nice: An Autobiography

Howard Marks (Random House, 1996)

In his autobiography, convicted drug dealer Howard Marks tells the story of how he had

...forty-three aliases and eighty-nine phone lines, and he owned twenty-five companies trading throughout the world. Bars, recording studios, offshore banks -- all were money-laundering vehicles serving the core business: dope dealing. At the height of his career he was smuggling consignments of up to thirty tons of marijuana and had contact with organizations as diverse as MI6, the CIA, the IRA, and the Mafia.

The photobooth photos on the back cover, presumably from some of his umpteen passports, were adapted later in 1996 by Super Furry Animals for the cover of their album Fuzzy Logic, which features the song "Hangin' with Howard Marks."
