This photobooth is a one-of-a-kind creation, a collaboration between Will Simmonds' Photobooth Services and the Pacific Science Center, combining the fun of the old-style photobooth with scientific demonstration that helps kids (and adults) understand how the photobooth really works. The booth is a Model 20 black and white machine with the innards of another Model 20 attached to the left side, rotated 90 degrees, and connected electronically to the neighboring booth. The result is a booth that takes normal photos, and simultaneously demonstrates, using a matching photobooth covered with transparent plastic walls, the process of exposure, chemical baths, and washing that goes on before the photos come out. A brilliant idea that works well, and will be even more useful when explanatory signs are attached labeling the different steps in the process. | |
UPDATE 5/26/17: Andrew reports that this booth, like all four at the Pacific Science Center, has been replaced with a digital machine. Contributed by Brian, Andrew Kropp |
