Justin from the Walker Arts Center in Minneapolis writes in with this digital photobooth setup, for those interested in learning about automating digital cameras and uploading images to the web:
I am writing to let you know about a photobooth project that I put together here at the Walker Art Center. Basically, we have fancy opening parties where we have a computer and a camera set up to act like a photobooth. We take the pictures and project them on a couple of big screens around the museum and automatically upload them to flickr. We have a big red button people hit to take the photo and use a ring flash on a white wall, so we get really excellent looking photos. During our recent Picasso show, we even went so far as to "picasso-ify" the pictures, using a photoshop action we developed.
I've blogged the whole process of building the thing and setting up the scripts and processes that tie it all together. It's on our blog under <a rel="nofollow" href="http://blogs.walkerart.org/newmedia/category/photobooth/>this category</a>.
(you might want to start with the bottom post and work your way up to the current one)
And the photos can be found in our <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/walkerart/>Flickr account</a>.
I thought you might like to know about the project. It could be a useful resource for someone who wants to roll their own setup.
