Test your rig out of a booth using a tripod. With the flash you should get great pictures, then check out the pics in the default save folder. If they are good then it is your printer, if they are bad then look at your camera settings. If the settings aren't the problem then it could be the camera itself. If all of those work then it is the lighting in the booth that is causing your problem.

I recently built a booth based off PhotoBoof for my wedding. The date has not come up yet but after testing things out I was alarmed to see that, no matter what I did, all my printouts appear rather washed out. I have tried changing things here and there in an effort to eliminate variables that might contribute to this but I have so little experience with cameras that I just cannot be sure what might be the cause.

My booth equipment:

Canon Powershot A75 Pixima ip4500 printer (slightly used) Serial Port button trigger Lighting provided by vanity fixture Holes for both camera lens and flash.

My first thought was that lighting might have something to do with it but I am not sure what type of lighting I should be using or what is really preferable.

I just don't know, does anyone here have an idea as to where I can start trouble shooting this? I don't want crappy pics for my wedding!
