The booth adds a special something to this popular place for live music. It's run on the token system, like the machine at the nearby Otto's Shrunken Head, and features the same instructions as four other NYC bar photobooths: 1. Wait for green light. 2. Insert token. 3. Attempt to look good. 4. Have a drink. 5. Photos will be delivered in 3-5 minutes. We waded through the back-end of the mob of people there for the band to get to the booth, and everyone around was good-natured about taking turns, helping keep the curtain closed, and suggesting techniques for the booth. As for the photos, really only the first photo of each strip we took was fully visible; the others were varying degrees of faded out. Good-looking photo strips adorn the walls of the bar, though, so it does work well some of the time. They have posted some of their photostrips online.
UPDATE 6/1/12: Lakeside Lounge closed at the end of April, 2012. This sad event was compounded by the thought of the photobooth disappearing along with the bar, but thankfully, Trixie was able to find a new home for the booth at the Hifi Bar around the block on Avenue A.
UPDATE 3/23/19: After a few years at HiFi, this booth is now at Snug Harbor in Charlotte, NC. Contributed by Brian, Derek |
