Thanks to a tip from Gina, author of a 2003 piece in the Kansas City Pitch wondering if there were any real photobooths in KC, I stopped by Birdies Panties, an underwear boutique in the Crossroads section of Kansas City.

As I came up to the shop, I thought to myself, "There's no way they could fit a photobooth in there!" and indeed they did not. I peered around the corner into the alleyway next to the shop, and there it sat, with its own little roof. "$4 = 4 min. = 4 photos" read the sign inside, and without a dollar bill acceptor, I would need 16 quarters to get the job done. I'd also need to wait until noon, when they opened shop, so they could turn it on. I was off on another long drive, so I grabbed a sandwich next door and headed out. Next time, Birdies.

UPDATE 2/2/10: Katie reports that the photobooth at Birdies has been sold, and is no longer at this location.
